Fascinating Facts About Indiana Jones That You Probably Didn't Know

In 1981, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford came together and introduced the world with a different kind of action hero, Indiana Jones. Till date, four movies has been made in the film franchise and soon it will have its fifth installment which has not been named yet but will release on July 19, 2019.
The movie franchise has been one of the most famous movie franchises of all times. Also, it is one of the longest franchise that still has a huge fan base even after thirty five years when the first movie came out.
Here are some of the interesting and probably less known facts about the “Indiana Jones” movies.

#1. The Secret to the name ‘Indiana Jones’

The main character of the film was named after George Lucas’s dog, Indiana. Lucas wanted to name the character Indiana Smith which Spielberg protested because Smith was very common. So Lucas came up with ‘Jones’ as the last name and likewise the character was named Indiana Jones.


#2. The Discovery of Short Round

Short Round was found accidentally. The actor who played short round came in the audition with his big brother. He caught the eye of the producers when he was telling his brother what to do and how to do. Then he was asked to give an audition himself and thus was selected for the role.


#3. The Gold and Red dress of Willie Scott

The gold and red sequined dressworn by Kate Capshaw a.k.a. Willie Scott in the opening scene of the Temple of Doom was eaten by an elephant on set. It was made by 1920s authentic beads and sequins. And as the dress was almost eaten by the elephant, it was repaired by the costume designer Anthony Powell by hand in order to complete the scene.
