Now we all have some secret desires, the ones that are deep rooted in our heart that every now and then surface when we come across certain things. It could be something as small and materialistic as a dress or something as life changing as recognizing your true identity. Rarely we come across people who are valiant enough go after what they really want, Jamie Raines was one of them. It took three years, but he finally achieved the masculine characteristics he’s always wanted and documented the transformation for the world to see.
Jamie, now a 21-year-old psychology student at the University of Essex, started taking testosterone tables to transition from female to male when he was just 17 years old.
He took a selfie every day to track his facial and physical changes. Three years on and Jamie has produced a fascinating time-lapse video using more than 1,400 of his self-portraits, which showcase the gradual growing of his facial hair and the morphing of his bone structure.
Jamie, who also runs a YouTube channel about his transitional journey, says that after years of feeling trapped in the wrong body, his reflection in the mirror finally feels right.
In one of his interviews, an excited Jamie said, ‘Growing in confidence and feeling more and more comfortable in myself has been a hugely exciting experience. The changes in how I feel about myself have been amazing.’ Jamie has also had a mastectomy and chest remodelling procedure done and says that aside from being a little less ’emotional’ now, the testosterone hasn’t changed his mood or character.
