Vaccinations are important for your body and we need not tell you the reason behind it. However, there exists a mother who is against the concept of it. Her son has celebrated his 18thbirthday by getting vaccinated against a whole load of diseases.
A resident of Ohio, Ethan Lindenberger had never been vaccinated due to his mother’s belief. His elder brothers and sisters have had their jabs but he wasn’t. Jill Wheeler, the mum never got him vaccinated against various sickness like hepatitis, measles, rubella, and mumps. Now that the man is an adult and can take his own decisions, he decided to get himself jabbed.
That’s some unique shots to take on your 18th birthday.
Ethan explained that his mother doesn’t believe in the concept of vaccination after she came across some information on the internet. The article suggested that vaccination can lead to autism and brain damage. Also, some overboard information in the article was that the government is trying to control the brains of people through vaccination.
After a public health emergency was declared in Washington after the state had a measles outbreak. Ethan took a step forward to a healthy life by getting all kinds of vaccinations.
A hell loads of kids went to Reddit for the rescue and advice regarding the outbreak and Ethan was one of them.
Ethan’s post read, “My parents think vaccines are some kind of government scheme. It’s stupid and I’ve had countless arguments over the topic. But, because of their beliefs I’ve never been vaccinated for anything, god knows how I’m still alive. But, I’m a senior in high school now with a car, a license, and money of my own. I’d assume that I can get them on my own, but I’ve just never had a conversation with anyone about the subject. I’m also afraid I’d go somewhere that up charges vaccines way more than somewhere just down the street. Any advice would be awesome. I’m going to get vaccinated but it’s more of a matter of where do I go to get vaccines.”
According to rules across the USA, a person cannot get vaccinated against the will of his parents till the time he is not an adult. So, as Ethan turned 18, he could legally get vaccinated and that’s what he did against his parent’s will.
He said that his mother always knew he disagreed with her way of thinking and that he was going to do what he feels like. Once he started doing his own research, it was quite evident that there are more articles in defense of vaccination.
When he came back and told his parents about the information his mother said, “That’s what they want you to think.” He was just blown away by the ignorance of his parents towards health.
He continued, “She looked at it as me getting vaccines as a gesture of rebellion and not for my own sake.”
Ethan is now asked to get more shots later in the month. He says that he doesn’t question his mother’s love, but he does think that she is being ignorant towards what is important for health.
