For a person, going through a gender change is a life turning event. Finally, getting in a body you feel comfortable in itself is a matter of freedom and happiness. This trans woman feels fortunate for her new life and 1400 tinder matches after her hormonal therapy.
With changing times, the idea of love has changed as well. Gone are the days when a person bumped into another at a café or a restaurant and exchanged numbers. These days, there are several dating apps designed to find love.
For people who aren’t comfortable in approaching people, these apps have come out as a blessing in disguise. They can now sit behind their phone screens and explore different profiles and can find a suitable match in a click or a swipe.
According to the April 2020 survey data of adults in the United States, 15 percent of respondents aged 18 to 29 years were currently using Tinder. Adults aged 33 to 44 years were most likely to use the social dating app, as 19 percent of respondents from that age group confirmed being current users.
Cassandra Heart is a 30-year-old software engineer who began her hormonal therapy 11 months ago. Following her hormone therapy, she set up a new account on Tinder on which she obtained more than 1,400 matches. Previously, she had received about 60 matches in two years when her gender was outlined as male on it.
Heart claimed that her tinder bio reads that she is a trans lady.
Heart revealed that she considers herself as pansexual which means that her attraction to somebody is not constrained by their gender. Presently, she is married to a woman who has been somewhat supportive of her journey.
In Heart’s words, “She was a little shocked at first, but she also said she kind of saw it coming.”
Heart considers herself very fortunate and blessed for this changeover. She explained that she had a couple of trans friends who were a little envious for the reason that the progress has been so quick for Heart.
Dating applications are usually challenging for trans people who fall victim to abuse while using them. Previously, in November 2019, Tinder was actually planning to ban various profiles of trans users because they have been reporting them “simply for remaining who they are,” said the then CEO of Tinder, Elie Seidman.
Heart explained that she realized she was a transgender at the age of five when her parents discussed the principle to her. She further stated, “Being exposed to how perfectly transitions can go was not popular when I was younger. It’s only lately that trans people have gotten visibility in the mainstream media.”
Heart plans to undergo gender-affirming surgery next year.
