As one grows older the shopping preferences change from running errands to different stores for different things to getting all the things at one place. What could be better place for this than Costco? From Groceries to Electronics you can buy everything from one store. This woman is so obsessed with the store that she got a Costco themed cake for her birthday.
Nikki Oliva who recently celebrated her 30th birthday got the best cake from her friend and pastry chef Samantha Waller. Nikki was aware of the fact that Samantha was getting a cake for her but she was not expecting a two-tired, Costco- themed cake filled with all sort of things she likes and the store specializes in.
Samantha pulled all the strings, toping off the cake with everything that Costco had to offer. From mini churros to a detailed receipt from Costco. Mini hot dogs, pizza slices, churros, and sodas which are some of Costco’s most recognizable staples were found as decorations on the cake. Mini croissants and pumpkin pie, being Nikki’s favorites became the ‘cherry on the cake’ Waller commented: “I thought it would be great to go all out, I chose the Costco-themed cake because everyone who knows Nikki knows that Costco is her favorite place ever.”
Making these toppings is a tough job. As told by Samantha it could take hours or even days, but she went all creative about it. She said: “My local cake supply store has an edible image printing service, so I emailed in the images and specification and they printed it for me on edible paper. Then I molded that receipt onto thinly rolled out fondant and let it dry overnight in an empty egg carton to create its wavy shape.”
There was no stopping for Samantha as she went all in for her friend and even made a birthday sign as a replica of Nikki’s Costco membership card. Taking help from her friend Adison, a graphic designer she said: “I thought it would be so fun … especially since Nikki is an executive member.” The card design had a Happy Birthday greeting with Nikki’s name on it. The cake also embodied the logo of ‘Costco Wholesale’ on it.
Samantha shared that the insides of the cake was funfetti, with a fresh raspberry filling and vanilla buttercream. From start to finish, the delicious cake took almost two days to be finished. “I think she thought it would just be a simple round cake with sprinkles or fresh flowers.” Samantha shared. In the end Nikki’s obsession did lead to something ‘yummy’.
